Coach Jamie Lee is in his first season as Grissom’s boys basketball coach. Lee, a Decatur High School graduate, has coached the past 15 seasons as the Red Raiders’ head coach. Prior to that he served as an assistant for six seasons.


During his tenure at Decatur, Coach Lee led Decatur to multiple post-season appearances, advancing to the Northwest Regional Finals in 2007. That team reached the Class 5A state semifinals before losing 45-43 to John Carroll.  Throughout his tenure he has developed and coached 16 college basketball players and several who chose to play college football including Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jerraud Powers and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain.


Coach Lee graduated from Decatur High School in 1986 and attended Auburn University, where he obtained an Accounting degree in 1991. In 1995, he earned a Physical Education degree and mathematics certification from Athens State University. He holds a Master’s degree from University of North Alabama and an Educational Leadership certification from the University of West Alabama.


Coach Lee has been married to his wife, Jennifer for 22 years and they have one daughter, Anna, who will be a freshman at Auburn University in the fall. He is a deacon at Central Baptist Church in Decatur and is an avid golfer and music listener.
